We are one of the longest established riding schools in the Tyneside area.

Established in 1948 by the late Norman Hannah, now currently owned by Mr Eric J Nunn, who is also a registered Farrier. We are a small, friendly family run yard that is able to offer expert tuition to both beginner and advanced riders. Our main aim is to help you improve your skills to whatever level you wish to achieve.

No need for nerves, our staff will put you at ease and ensure you have an enjoyable, fun and memorable experience. Remember, we all had to start somewhere and you are never too old to begin horse riding!!!

The Riding School has taught generations of families to ride and is proud of its reputation as a warm, friendly, inviting and fun yard.

North Lizard Riding School is the ideal place to catch up with some fresh air, wildlife, fabulous coastal views and unspoilt quality time with your four-legged friend!

We offer lessons 7 days a week including some evenings, on carefully selected horses and ponies providing a range of sizes, types and temperaments to suit all, from total beginners to the more experienced rider.

We are approved and accredited by the British Horse Society (BHS).

We welcome prospective clients to come and have a look round and see the horses and view lessons. Just come to the office when you arrive and we will arrange for a member of staff to show you around.

By Road: Travelling from South Shields – travel along the A183 Coast Road past Souter Lighthouse, turn right onto Kitchener Road, at the junction turn right onto Lizard Lane. Travelling along Lizard Lane, we are situated on the right just past the Golf Club. Travelling from Sunderland – Travel along the Coast Road through Roker, Seaburn and Whitburn along the A183. Take a left turn onto Kitchener Road just after “Shorts of Whitburn”. At the junction, turn right onto Lizard Lane, travelling along Lizard Lane, we are located on the right just past the Golf Club. By Bus: There are two buses which stop directly outside North Lizard  Riding School. The E2 and the E6 both operated by Stagecoach and run between South Shields, Whitburn, Chichester and Sunderland. Both leave from Sunderland Interchange Stand P and South Shields Town Centre.
